Hornbill Festival Tour Package 2026 — Nagaland Trip with Fixed Departures (from ₹22,500)
Every December, Nagaland turns into an open-air museum of tribal life, and the Hornbill Festival tour package is the easiest, best-value way to be inside it. From 1 to 10 December 2026, all 17 major Naga tribes gather at Kisama Heritage Village near Kohima to share their war dances, folk songs, food, crafts and rice beer — a spectacle so complete that it's earned the nickname the "Festival of Festivals." At BreakBag, we've been running fixed-departure Hornbill trips since 2015, with Inner Line Permits, homestays near the festival ground, and local Naga trip leaders all handled for you. Prices start at ₹22,500 per person, and seats on each December departure are limited.
This guide covers everything you need to book with confidence: our 2026 packages and prices, a day-by-day itinerary, exactly what's included, how to reach Kisama, permit rules, and answers to the questions we're asked most.
Our Hornbill Festival 2026 Tour Packages & Prices
We run small, fixed-departure groups so you get real cultural access without the chaos of a large coach tour. Every 2026 departure lands you at Kisama for the festival's most vivid days and includes your Inner Line Permit, festival entry on every festival day, homestays/hotels, breakfast, and a local Naga trip leader. Pick the length that suits you:
| Package | Duration | Route highlights | Starting price (per person) |

| Hornbill + Dzukou Valley Trek | 6N/7D | Adds the Dzukou Valley trek + WWII Cemetery | ₹34,900 |

| Grand Nagaland Cultural Tour | 9N/10D | Adds Mokokchung + Mon (Konyak headhunter villages) | ₹58,900 |

Why book early: Nagaland's homestays and vehicles are locked in months ahead for the festival window, so every operator books on a first-come basis. Our December departures typically fill by October. Reserving early secures both your seat and the lower price tier.

Day-by-Day Itinerary (4N/5D Hornbill Essentials)
Our core 5-day route is built to give you two full festival days at Kisama plus the best of Kohima and Khonoma — the depth that day-trippers miss.
Day 1 — Arrive Dimapur → drive to Kohima Meet your BreakBag trip leader at Dimapur airport/railway station and drive up to Kohima (approx. 70 km / 2.5–3.5 hrs) through Assam's plains into Nagaland's hills. Evening check-in, trip briefing, and a first taste of Naga cuisine.
Day 2 — Kohima → Kisama: Hornbill Festival Head to Kisama Heritage Village for a full festival day. Watch the tribes' morung performances, warrior dances and folk songs, try smoked pork with bamboo shoot, and browse handwoven Naga shawls and crafts. Evening back in Kohima.
Day 3 — Second festival day + Kohima heritage A second, unhurried day at Kisama to soak in the indigenous games, Naga wrestling and the chilli-eating contest. Later, visit the Kohima War Cemetery — one of India's most moving WWII memorials — and the old cathedral.
Day 4 — Khonoma green village Drive to Khonoma, Asia's first "green village," for a guided walk through its terraced fields and a warriors' history that stopped the British twice. Return to Kohima for a farewell Naga dinner.
Day 5 — Kohima → Dimapur departure Morning drive back to Dimapur for your onward flight or train, with a lifetime of memories from Nagaland's greatest celebration.
Longer packages add the Dzukou Valley trek, Kaziranga safari, or the Konyak headhunter villages of Mon — ask us for the detailed day-wise plan.

How to Reach Kisama & the Best Time to Go
Getting there. The gateway is Dimapur, Nagaland's only airport and major railhead, with flights and trains from Kolkata, Guwahati, Delhi and beyond. From Dimapur it's roughly 70 km (2.5–3.5 hrs) by road to Kohima, then a short 12 km (about 20–25 min) south to Kisama Heritage Village. On our packages, every one of these transfers is arranged for you. Best time & how many days. The festival runs 1–10 December 2026 — the dates are fixed every year and open on 1 December to coincide with Nagaland Statehood Day. The opening days carry the biggest ceremonial energy. For a satisfying trip, give yourself at least 4–5 days: two at Kisama for the festival, one for Kohima, and one for a nearby village like Khonoma. Add days if you want to pair it with Dzukou Valley, Kaziranga or the Konyak villages of Mon.
Permits. Indian travellers need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Nagaland; foreign nationals must register on arrival (and may need PAP/RAP for restricted areas). We arrange the ILP for every guest on our packages, so it's one less thing to worry about. Festival gate entry runs roughly ₹50–₹100 per person per day for independent visitors — but on our trips it's already covered in your package.
