BreakBag was founded in 2015 with one simple belief: travel should be affordable for everyone.
As Mayukh spent more time inside the travel industry, he realised the biggest problem was not always the actual cost of a holiday, but the number of layers involved in selling it. Agents, sub-agents, DMCs and intermediaries often added commissions at every step. BreakBag was built to reduce these layers by working directly with hotels, transporters and local service providers wherever possible.
Passionate about technology, Mayukh also saw an opportunity to make holiday planning faster through automation. Instead of becoming completely dependent on technology, BreakBag developed a hybrid approach: AI for planning and personalisation, supported by experienced human operations teams connected directly with service providers.
This combination helps BreakBag create trips that are not only personalised, but also realistic, value-driven and reliably delivered. Travellers use AI to curate and customise their itinerary, while verified on-ground teams stay responsible for the actual travel experience. Understanding destinations, controlling operational costs and adapting to difficult situations has kept BreakBag operational and profitable for more than ten years.
Mayukh's vision also goes beyond travel. Coming from a non-metro background himself, he strongly believes in creating employment opportunities in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. As technology makes location less important for planning, sales and operations, talent no longer needs to move to a metro city to build a career — and it lets BreakBag run a leaner, more cost-efficient model.
