From the viewing tower the water plunges in two silver leaps down a sheer green cliff, its roar rising through the forest long before you catch sight of it.

Cascading roughly 229 metres down a moss-cloaked rock face, Vantawng Falls is the highest waterfall in Mizoram and among the most striking of all waterfalls in Mizoram. Set deep in bamboo and semi-evergreen forest near the weaving town of Thenzawl, the falls drop in two dramatic tiers, the water catching the light as it thunders into the gorge below. A wooden viewing platform lets you take in the full sweep of Vantawng Waterfall Thenzawl, framed by jungle and birdsong, while the surrounding hills carry the clack of handlooms from nearby villages. The Vantawng Falls viewpoint is a raised tower a short distance from the falls themselves, as the gorge makes closer access difficult — visit in the late morning when sunlight reaches into the ravine, and pair it with Thenzawl's deer park and weaving workshops nearby.
