Set amid the terraced fields of eastern Bhutan, Radhi Village is known both as the "rice bowl of the east" and as a celebrated weaving village. Here women work bura — the distinctive raw-silk textile of the region — on backstrap and traditional looms, coaxing lustrous thread into fine kira and garments patterned with quiet skill. Wander the lanes and you can watch the weaving in and around family homes, and buy pieces directly from the makers, all framed by some of the loveliest terraced scenery in the east. Warm, rural and authentically Sharchop, this is bura silk weaving at its source. Known for Radhi weaving Bhutan and its Bhutanese textiles, Radhi Village Trashigang is among the most rewarding things to do in Trashigang and places to visit in eastern Bhutan. March to May and September to November for pleasant weather and green terraced fields — a weekday best for seeing weavers at work.

Visit weavers in and around their homes to watch the backstrap looms in action and buy bura silk directly — carry cash, ask politely before photographing the women at work, and take a stroll through the paddies for the terraced views.
